Cut Vermicelli


  • 1 cup parboiled Rice
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp Mitsides Vegetable Powder
  • ⅓ cup Mitsides Cut Vermicelli
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 whole star anise
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp salt


Rinse the rice with cold water. Let it soak for 10 minutes, rinse again and drain. Heat the olive oil in a medium sized pan. Add the vermicelli and fry until golden brown. Take care not to let it burn! Add the rice, boiling water, vegetable powder, salt, cinnamon and star anise. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and cover the pot with the lid. Let the rice cook for 10 minutes. Remove the star anise, stir in the butter, cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
